Why are there 2 different healing salves?
Healing Salve I contains essential oils that may cause irritation to some horses. Although most horses are fine with this salve, Healing Salve II was created for our sensitive friends. Thin-skinned chestnuts and grey/whites tend to be more reactive to the essential oils in Healing Salve I. Healing Salve II contains no essential oils and is also suitable to be used on the thin skin of a horse's face.

Which Healing Salve is best for my horse?
You know your horse better then we do. Do you groom vigorously or use a soft brush at all times? Determine what skin type your horse has before ordering. Healing Salve II is recommended for all dapple grays and whites since it does not contain any essential oils and will not stain their hair.

How does the Hoof Growth salve work?
By rubbing this salve, which contains the essential oils of Lavender and Rosemary, onto the coronary band you are improving circulation to the hoof. You will actually feel mild heat at the site of application. This increased circulation will externally aid in stimulating the growth of the hoof, but other factors such as diet, stall conditions, moisture, and shoeing need to be considered when trying to improve the overall health of your horse's feet.

Some of the oils and salves are similar, which should I use?
The salves and oils offer different means of application and have different ingredients. Check the website for a full description of each product. The choice is yours depending on what type of product you prefer to use.

How do I apply the salves?
Scoop a small amount of the salve into your hand and let your body's heat soften the product before application. Only apply the salve to the areas you wish to affect on your horses' body.

How do I store the products?
Since Zephyr's Garden products are all-natural and contain no artificial preservatives, you will need to keep them in a cool place and out of direct sunlight. If a salve melts due to high temperatures, place it in a cool, shady spot or the refrigerator, and it will re-harden. All-natural products tend to have a shorter shelf life then those filled with preservatives. Check for color, consistency, and smell for any products that you have had for more than 6 months.

How will I know what Set The Mood Spray is right for my horse?
Horses are very smell sensitive and your horse will show you what spray she prefers. Open the bottle and let your horse breath in the scent prior to spraying. She will either turn away from or move toward the smell. Most horses are very clear as to what Set The Mood Spray they prefer. But horses, like us, have moods. A scent turned away from today may be a favored scent tomorrow. Try the different sprays at different times and let your horse be the guide.

Can I use Zephyr's Garden products on my other pets?
Yes, other pets respond well to the natural healing properties of our products. Cats tend to be sensitive to essential oils, so for healing, Healing Salve II is recommended.

Can I use Zephyr's Garden products on myself?
Our products were formulated with horses in mind, but many customers have told us that they too enjoy using our products. Our products contain no harsh chemicals and most have a base of Olive or Grapeseed Oil.

I read about Zephyr going barefoot and I would like to make changes to my horses' health as well. Where do I start?
Start by reading as much as possible about natural horse care. Horse Journal (www.horse-journal.com) wonderful starting point. Next, order books, search online for websites that support what you'd like to accomplish with your horse, and talk to other horse people. Do as much research as possible before you make any drastic changes.

All Zephyr's Garden products come with a 30 day guarantee. If for some reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, return the unused portion and your receipt for a refund (excluding any shipping and handling charges). Any purchased item with more then ½ of the product missing will receive a ½ refund. Zephyr's Garden will not reimburse for return shipping. No product will be accepted for return after 30 days from date of purchase and no refunds will be issued without a copy of the receipt.
